A destination for considered Scandinavian design

Long calm room with lime-plaster walls, pale oak shelving with stoneware and books, a travertine plinth and sheer curtains

Our approach

Objects for a life well considered.

We believe the most enduring interiors are shaped slowly. Each piece in the collection is considered for how it is made, how it lives, and how gracefully it can remain part of everyday life — long after the room around it has changed.

NORRDIS brings together furniture, lighting, textiles and objects from workshops that work in solid timber, undyed wool, stonewashed linen, brass and stone. The measure is simple: would we keep this, and would we buy it again?

In the workshop

Less, but more meaningful.

Solid timber moves with the room, so a joint has to be designed to allow for it. Wool gives back its shape; linen creases and is better for it. These are not quirks to be hidden but the reason a handmade piece outlasts a manufactured one.

We work with makers who can explain their choices — why a board was quarter-sawn, why a finish was left unlacquered, what will happen to the surface in a decade.

What we look for

01

Material first

Every piece begins as a question about substance: what the timber will do in twenty years, how the wool will wear, whether the finish can be repaired by hand.

02

Made to be lived with

A piece that photographs beautifully but fails at breakfast is a failure. We weigh daily use above the shot, and sit on the chair before we admire it.

03

Quiet by design

Restraint is not the absence of ideas. The work is in removing everything that does not earn its place, so the room stays calm and the object stays legible.
